CrossFit focuses on functional movements—things your body naturally does every day:
- Squatting (like sitting and standing)
- Lifting (from the ground, to overhead, or onto a shelf)
- Carrying (shopping bags, kids, or luggage)
- Pressing, jumping, running, pulling, and rotating
Every class at CrossFit Mendip combines these movements into varied workouts (called “WODs” or Workouts of the Day). For example, you might use barbells, kettlebells, rowers, or just your own body weight.
Additionally, each workout is different. Each session is coach-led. And every movement is adapted to your ability.
But Do You Have to Be Fit First? Absolutely Not.
In fact, most of our members started as beginners. Many hadn’t exercised in years. Some had never stepped foot in a gym before.

Instead of expecting you to “keep up,” our coaches scale every workout to your current fitness level. Can’t do a push-up yet? No problem—we give you a version that works for now. Can’t run? We’ll provide an alternative.
